Katerina Dautova is
our May 2006 Student of the Month

Katerina Dautova was born in Irkutsk in 1980. Katya has been a natural high achiever since childhood, and that high achievement includes an outstandingly high GMAT score of 740, made doubly impressive by the fact that Katya is recently married and has been juggling study for the exam, the demands of an impressive career, and the sometimes equally tough demands of adjusting to married life.

After graduating from high school in Sakha with a gold medal in mathematics, Katya managed to enter the Finance Academy 's International Economic Relations Institute, where she graduated with a red diploma in 2002. Upon graduation she landed a job with the Moscow office of MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH (a former Daimler Chrysler subsidiary), which manufactures and sells diesel and gas engines. Now, just four years later, Katya is responsible for her company's service network in Russia , as well as for mining projects in several CIS countries-a pretty high responsibility for someone only 26 years old.

Katya says that one of her interests is exploring new things, which is certainly what she plans to do with her MBA. She is aiming for two quite different schools to apply to: Stanford, in beautiful Northern California, which is famous for its innovation and scholarship, and SDA Bocconi, where she can indulge her love of Italy while perfecting her already almost fluent Italian language skills at the same time as perfecting her business skills.

Congratulations Katya on your outstanding GMAT score and your academic, personal and career successes. You have all our best wishes for a successful B-school future.
