Pericles is proud to announce its February Students of the Month: our Leading Students Scholarship recipients, Vera Savva and Aijamal Umarova!
The Leading Students Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship for our LL.M. program awarded by Pericles twice annually. In December, the scholarship is reserved for one graduate or final-year student from each of the following law schools: MGIMO, MGU, and MGUA. These students are then admitted in the following spring semester. In summer, on the contrary, we at Pericles shift focus and reserve two scholarships, one for a participant in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition and one for a promising student from a regional law school outside of Moscow. These students, in turn, are then admitted in the following fall semester.
Of course, all recipients of our Leading Students Scholarship must demonstrate great academic abilities, and Vera Savva, our MGIMO recipient for the Spring 2010 semester, is no exception. While at MGIMO, she consistently distinguished herself from her peers, earning superlative grades in many of her courses. Since Vera is currently employed as a senior lawyer in the international corporate department at IES Holding (Renova), she has exhibited remarkable commitment to academics in choosing to pursue the LL.M. degree on top of all her work obligations. It should also be noted that Vera is a talented linguist who has an impressive command of both English and German in addition to her native Russian.
Our scholarship winner from MGU, Aijamal Umarova, is also no stranger to success. Currently she juggles her Pericles coursework with an impressive array of responsibilities in her work at Meridian LLC. These include drafting contracts, closing deals, liaising with the Federal Tax Service, researching extensively, and generally overseeing the company's activities. In her free time, Aijamal's passions include reading and music. Having first joined Pericles in an effort to improve her legal writing skills in English, we were delighted when she expressed interest in our LL.M. program, and even more so when she was selected as a scholarship winner.
Once again, our sincerest congratulations to the February Students of the Month: our 'Leading Students', Vera Savva and Aijamal Umarova.
